Volunteer Fire Department
Volunteers in the department provide fire suppression to residents and property owners using two engines, a tanker, and a 4-wheel drive first response vehicle. The department also responds to automobile accidents, downed power lines, flooding, and other hazards as necessary. We also help the town with maintenance from time to time. This would include cleaning the covered bridges in the spring and cleaning plugged culverts throughout the year.
New members and cadets (under age 18) are welcome to join. The department provides training. Other training is available throughout the year by Vermont Fire Training Council.
Weekly meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings at the fire station at the corner of Route 110 and Monarch Hill. The first and third Thursday is training meetings, the second Thursday is business/trustee meeting and the fourth Thursday is maintenance.
Anyone wishing to join should contact any member of the department or chief.
