Tunbridge Bonebuilders
The Bone Builder Program was formed in the summer of 2005, and stems from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Vermont. It is recognized by the Tunbridge Selectboard as a nonprofit group, and while it is under the Tunbridge Recreation Department, it is a separate organization.
The program is derived from research done at Tufts University in Boston, and aims to reverse bone loss, improve energy and balance and to replace fat with muscle. Many of the trainers were trained by RSVP who in turn trained the other all-volunteer trainers.
Participants attend classes upstairs in the Town Hall twice weekly, free of charge. You may attend two (2) classes per week with at least a day in between. Weights are provided for use on-site, and classes are primarily balance and weight-bearing exercises along with informational handouts on osteoporosis, nutrition, medical options, etc.
For more information, contact the program’s director, Shelia Mitchinson, at (802) 889-5547.
