Community Energy Meeting in Tunbridge on 2/17
An open community energy meeting, “40 Years is Enough – Close Vermont Yankee in 2012″, will be held in the Tunbridge Town Hall on Tuesday, February 17th at 7PM. Several central Vermont towns including Tunbridge, Vershire, Corinth, Topsham and Brookfield along with nearly 40 other towns throughout the state have successfully added warnings on this topic to their respective upcoming Town Meetings. Citizens in other VT towns are encouraged to bring up a similar resolution during the “other business” portion of their meetings. VT’s legislature is scheduled to vote on the VT Yankee re-licensing issue this spring.
The 2/17 forum will feature a presentation by Chris Williams, a spokesperson for the Vermont Citizens Action network, along with a wealth of relevant printed materials about renewable energy economics, the New England power grid, community supported energy, distributive energy and energy efficiency. An extensive Q&A session will follow the Mr. Williams’ presentation.
