Community Energy Meeting in Tunbridge on 2/17

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
An open community energy meeting, "40 Years is Enough - Close Vermont Yankee in 2012", will be held in the Tunbridge Town Hall on Tuesday, February 17th at 7PM. Several central Vermont towns including Tunbridge, Vershire, Corinth, Topsham and Brookfield along with nearly 40 other towns throughout the state have successfully added warnings on this topic to their respective upcoming Town Meetings. Citizens in other VT towns are encouraged to bring up a similar resolution during the "other business" portion of their meetings. VT's legislature is scheduled to vote on the VT Yankee re-licensing issue this spring. The 2/17 forum will feature a presentation by Chris Williams, a spokesperson for the Vermont Citizens Action network, along with a wealth of relevant printed materials about renewable energy economics, the New England power grid, community supported energy, distributive energy and energy efficiency. An extensive Q&A session will follow the Mr. Williams' presentation. For further information, please contact Todd at 802-431-3433 or via e-mail to folkbloke@hotmail.com

New Calendar Shows 13 Tunbridge Barns

Monday, November 17th, 2008
Copies of "The Barns of Tunbridge," the new Tunbridge Historical Society calendar, are on sale for $10 at the Tunbridge Library and Tunbridge Village Store. The photographer, part-time resident Alec Frost, and society President Euclid Farnham collaborated to produce the 13-month calendar that goes from January 2009 through January 2010. A caption with brief history accompanies each full-color photo taken of a barn in the appropriate season for its month. Important events from the town's history and civic life are noted on those dates. Calendar sale proceeds will go to the fund to replace the roof on the North Tunbridge Baptist Church, which the Historical Society is restoring. The building has been unusable for several years because of water damage. Frost and Farnham are working on the 2010 calendar which will feature local houses. For information call Farnham at 889-3458.
